Broad Peak Expedition

Rush Peak is a highlight of trekking in the Hunza and Nagar regions, offering distant glimpses of K2 on clear days. The journey follows streams from Hoper Valley to Rush Lake and along the ridge, providing stunning views of Hisper Gorge, Golden Peak, Malubiting, Miar, Ultar, Passu, and Nagar peaks. On clear days, K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum IV are visible. No other trek in Hunza offers such magnificent views in a short duration.

Rush Lake, a turquoise gem nestled between Hispar Valley and Barpu Glacier, is the centerpiece of this trek. From the 5098-meter-high Rush Peak, trekkers are rewarded with a 360° view of almost all main peaks in the Hunza and Nagar regions. Eastward views include K2, Broad Peak, and Gasherbrum IV, while the Hispar Muztagh massif reveals peaks like Lupgar Sar, Momhil Sar, Trivor, Mulungutti Sar, and Distaghil Sar. This trek is pure indulgence in the awe-inspiring mountain panorama of the Karakoram.

Ideal for beginners and experienced trekkers, the Rush Lake trek starts from Hopper Valley, known for its terraced fields and fruit orchards. The village of Hopper, with its irrigated fields, is the perfect starting point for this adventure.

Rush Phari, a sparkling land of natural beauty, is a top trek in the Karakoram for those passionate about trekking. The trek traverses glaciers and villages, offering glimpses into the lives of those living at the foot of these massive ice fields.

Along the trek, trekkers encounter the junction of the Barpu and Bualter Glaciers, with local legends adding cultural interest. The incredible views of Rush Lake and the surrounding peaks from Rush Peak are unparalleled. Surrounded by peaks over 7000 meters, the distant glimpse of K2 on a clear day is breathtaking.

Rush Peak, located in the Karakoram range in Nagar Valley, Gilgit-Baltistan, is a notable remote trekking destination. Accessible via Nagar Valley and Hopper Valley through Hoper Glacier (Bualtar Glacier) and Barpu Glacier, Rush Peak is relatively easy to climb in summer, often by amateur climbers without specialized gear. However, winter months bring heavy snows, making access challenging.

From the top of Rush Peak, stunning views of Miar Peak, Miar Glacier, and Phuparash Peak can be seen. On clear days, you can see some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2 and Broad Peak. At the mountain’s base lies one of the world’s highest alpine lakes, Rush Lake, at 4694 meters. This trek is a must for those seeking to experience the grandeur of the Karakoram range.
